Gemma, Emily and Jen with the award
Congratulations to the Around the Toilet project team who last week took away the top prize in the Arts, Humanities and Social Science category at the Engage 2016 Awards.
The awards, run by the National Coordinating Centre for Public Engagement, celebrate high quality public engagement with research projects. The team received their award at a ceremony on 29th November 2016 at Bristol’s Marriott Royal Hotel. They will also receive £1500 to spend on further engagement activity. You can see the other finalists and find out more about the awards on the NCCPE website.
Around the Toilet is an arts-based research project exploring the toilet as a place of exclusion and belonging which draws on people’s experiences and expertise to imagine how toilets could be different. Over the course of the project they have produced films, installations and a toolkit designed to support planners, architects and designers to critically and creatively rethink notions of access in relation to the toilet design process. Find out more about the project here: Around the Toilet Page.
