Project: Community filmmaking and cultural diversity: Practice, innovation and policy

Dr Sarita Malik introduces the Community Filmmaking and Cultural Diversity: Policy, Innovation and Practice conference at the BFI Southbank, London January on 22nd and 23rd 2014. The project has been concerned with looking at how community filmmaking practices in culturally diverse contexts contribute to the wider film ecology. Questions of representation, identity, and innovation are raised and how this contribution can be better supported by policy. There are three phases to the project: the first phase was about gathering up key literature, the second was about primary data gathering in three English regions, and the third has been about preliminary analysis of that data and dissemination.
