Tangible Memories Film

Project: Tangible Memories: Community in care

This film, specially commissioned for the AHRC’s 10th anniversary looks at the Tangible Memories Project which started in 2013.

The ‘Tangible Memories: Community in Care’ project involves researchers from the University of Bristol who have been working alongside Alive! activities, artists (Stand + Stare and Heidi Hinder) and care home residents, staff and managers from across the city of Bristol.

The team has been co-designing novel technologies to enable staff, families and residents to record and share stories and to engage residents in multisensory experiences. The aim of the project is to enhance the quality of life of residents and encourage social and creative activities in care home settings.

In this film we meet the researchers and artists behind the project as well as some of the inspiring residents who have been involved project and who have been involved in co-designing the technologies. The film takes a close look at some of the technologies that have been developed and explores how their purpose has been to enhance rather than replace human interactions.
