Summary
AHRC has launched a highlight notice in its Research Networking Scheme as part of a range of activities to support the contribution which arts and humanities research can make to international development. The highlight notice will run initially until 31 May 2016.
Highlight notices are intended to stimulate proposals addressing strategic priorities or emerging research opportunities in order to rapidly advance thinking or collaboration in these areas. Highlight notices are offered as opportunities within existing AHRC research schemes and are therefore assessed under the same criteria and assessment process. Find out more about our current Highlight Notices.
The aim of this highlight notice is to encourage research networking proposals which explore the contribution that arts and humanities research can play in debates about international development and/or to the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. It also seeks to support the development of international boundary crossing collaborations with countries which receive Official Development Assistance (ODA) and/or with organisations which play an important role in supporting international development.
The highlight notice is open to a wide range of research networking proposals from across the arts and humanities but is intended to specifically encourage proposals which:
- support the development of collaborations with researchers and/or non-academic partners (e.g. cultural, creative and heritage organisations, charities and NGOs, voluntary, non-profit, civil society, public or private sector organisations) in one or more of the 146 countries which appear on the DAC (Development Assistance Committee of the OECD) list of ODA Recipients (for 2014-2016) (under any category) and/or with relevant international organisations with remits that include supporting development in ODA recipient countries (e.g. international aid, development, humanitarian or cultural exchange organisations)
- are focused an exploring how arts and humanities research can contribute to international development agendas or the UN Sustainable Development Goals and/or to the development (and welfare more broadly) of one or more country on the DAC list of ODA recipients (see above).
Further details on the context for the highlight notice, suggestions of potential arts and humanities research areas which could fit within it, as well as further information on how to apply under the highlight can be found in the Highlight Notice document.
